Digi Connect WAN

More customers than ever now require that not only the devices in their central data center be connected, but also devices at remote locations. Digi has identified this new space as Remote Device Management and we now offer a suite of hardware and software solutions that utilize cellular networks. Available in GSM and CDMA models, the Digi Connect WAN family includes:

  • Digi Connect® WAN - Ethernet-to-cellular router provides enterprise backup and primary connectivity to remote locations.
  • Digi Connect® WAN VPN - Cellular VPN router contains all the features of Digi Connect WAN and Digi Connect WAN RG, but with added security.
  • Digi Connect® WAN IA - Wireless WAN gateway with all of the features of Digi Connect WAN VPN, plus additional industrial hardware/software components including terminal block for power, DIN rail mounting kit and Modbus protocol support.
  • Digi Connect® WAN Sync - Wireless WAN cellular router with support for legacy synchronous serial devices.

Digi Connect WAN products provide high-performance wireless communications via GSM (GPRS/EDGE) or CDMA (1xRTT) networks for primary and backup connectivity to remote locations. They offer an easy and cost-effective means of connecting virtually any remote location into the corporate IP network. They are ideal for use where wired networks (e.g., lease line/frame relay, CSU/DSU, fractional T1) are not feasible or where alternative network connections are required. Benefits include instant deployment, elimination of wiring costs and problems due to wire breaks, the ability to traverse firewalls, and the ability to move the connection virtually anywhere.

All Digi Connect WAN products seamlessly integrate with Digi Connectware® Manager enterprise software, which provides easy setup, configuration and maintenance of large installations. Users can upgrade firmware or change settings of thousands of devices with only a few clicks, as well as receive status reports for troubleshooting.

Connectware Manager

  • Enterprise management and configuration of groups of devices across remote networks
  • Automatic firmware management and upgrading
  • Alarm generation and alerting
  • Secure communications via 256-bit AES encryption and authentication
  • Integrated Dynamic DNS

Digi Connectware Manager, part of the Digi Connectware Suite, provides enterprise class management and administration to the Digi Connect® WAN family, ConnectPort™ WAN VPN and Digi Connect® Wi-SP. It can be hosted at a customer’s central data center or via a Digi ASP partner, and can be accessed securely from anywhere across a wired or wireless IP network, including the Internet.

One of the key benefits of using the Digi Connectware Manager platform is the reduction of administrative maintenance costs. Fewer maintenance trips are required to remote locations because of its ability to diagnose and solve problems from the central data center. Another key time saver is the ability for the system to report problems in the field, instead of having to dedicate an administrator to constantly monitor all of the devices.

In addition to the Digi Connectware Manager includes a connection manager that provides a means of seamless connections to remote devices, including devices on private or dynamic IP networks.
